Our Pay-it-Forward Policy
Believing that each of us can make a difference in this crazy world, Ebby’s House donates at least ten percent of all rental fees to organizations that support humanitarian or environmental missions in the United States. Each year we choose to contribute to three local charities along with one operating on the national scale.
If you’re reading this and asking why we don’t simply lower the rent and skip the charity stuff, you should probably look into a different house.
Recycling Policy
It is greatly unfortunate that Highlands does not offer a curbside recycling service. If you care enough about the planet to use our recycling bin, we will take what you save to the recycling center for you and will also refund a portion of your guest fee to show our appreciation.
Terms and Conditions
We welcome all kind, gentle-natured, caring people who are committed to a peaceful world and a healthy environment without condition of race, creed, or gender.
- Maximum occupancy is seven people, but for groups larger than five, two people will need to sleep on a sofa bed.
- Staying in this vacation rental home is not like staying in a motel or inn. We’ll apologize in advance that first-time guests will have to jump through a few paperwork hoops. In making your reservation, we will provide you with an Information and Disclosure Sheet to review the full details about the house and grounds. You will be asked to complete a Reservation Confirmation Form that will outline your dates, fees, and payment information. You will need to submit a signed and notarized Vacation Lease Agreement and all payments prior to your visit.
- No reservations for new guests will be held for longer than twenty-four hours without a Rental Confirmation and deposit.
- If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason fewer than sixty days prior to your date, we will refund your money only if we can find another renter for your dates. If no other renter is found, we will maintain your payments as a credit for you to use at another time within a 365-day time period or allow you to transfer your payments and reservation date to another friend or family member as long as he or she completes our Vacation Lease Agreement.
- All guests must agree to enter into a zero-liabilty situation. Every effort is made to keep our home in a safe and comfortable condition for our guests. We will not participate in frivilous slip-and-fall or other ridiculous lawsuits. Should you choose to visit our home, you will take responsibility for your own actions.
- You will be asked about the breed, health, and temperament of your pet before we will give you permission to bring him or her along. In some cases, we will ask for health records from your veterinarian. We reserve the right to decline certain breeds based on prior negative experiences. We don’t care if your furry friends are large or small; you will not be permitted to bring more than two dogs. Large parties (more than four people) may not bring a pet unless visiting during an emergency situation such as a hurricane evacuation. Chronic barkers or otherwise yappy dogs are not welcome. If you have a real barker, don’t even bother asking.
- For those with physical limitations: this is a two-story home. The bedrooms are upstairs, while the kitchen and dining areas are downstairs. If you have any physical limitations that prevent you from climbing up and down stairs, you will not be comfortable. This is an older home that often allows dogs to visit. Even though it is kept very clean and we have a dehumidifier, those with severe health conditions such as acute asthma or serious pulmonary problems may not be comfortable.
